A study by McKinsey Global Institute estimates by 2030, just 10.5 years from now automation and artificial intelligence will shift the skills the workforce needs significantly.

Check out this graph. By 2030 the percentage of hours spent in manual labour jobs in the United States and Europe will decrease by 14%.  As well, hours spent working in roles requiring basic cognitive skills will decrease by 15%.

The Demand For Technological Skills is Increasing

Those roles requiring higher cognitive skills will increase by 8%.  The number of hours requiring social and emotional skills will increase by 24% and the biggest number of all those roles requiring technological skills will increase by a whopping 55%.  McKinsey & Company ~ Source: McKinsey Global Institute Workforce Skills Model

Another startling statistic from the United States, according to Insured Retirement Institute, Baby Boomers, so those of us born between 1946 and 1964.  45% of Baby Boomers have no retirement savings.  Only 55% of Baby Boomers have some retirement savings and, of those, 28% have less than $100,000.
