Five Regrets People Have in Their Final Days

This video is worth watching ... it's an inspiring message to help us all avoid life time regrets.

Lots of us have regrets.  There's still time to make things right.

We share 5 things that an Australian nurse documented as being the greatest regrets people voice in their final hours.  We can all make some changes so we don’t suffer the same feelings of regret when our time is up.

Bronnie Ware, an Australian palliative care nurse, is behind the book The Top Five Regrets of the Dying.   She’s noticed themes and trends among people she assisted.

Here are the top five life regrets according to author Bronnie Ware.

1.  I wish that I had let myself be happier.

Happiness is a choice we make every day.  Writing the little things down we are thankful for at the beginning or end of each day is a simple exercise to focus on the positive things in our lives  It’s easy to dwell on the negative things.  Appreciate what you have now instead of looking too far in the future.

2.  I wish I hadn't worked so hard.

It’s possible to make more money and impossible to turn back the hands of time.  Life- time regrets happen when we have lost the time to change the choices we’ve made.

3.  I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

Are you living out your dreams now?  If not, what’s stopping you?  The author noted that many people she spoke to had not honoured even a half their dreams and had to die knowing it was due to choices they had made of had not made.

What’s stopping you from achieving your dreams?

Is it money, time, fear of the unknown?  We are sharing this so you find a way so you don’t don’t live a life of regret.  It’s up to you, no one will realize your dreams for you.

4. I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings.

Take the chance to express yourself.  Let people know how you really feel, speak up for yourself when it matters.  Suppressing feelings is stressful and can contribute to health issues.  That’s why it’s called dis-ease.

5.  I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.

Friendships can be essential for our mental health.
