How to Make Money Online – Do You Have What it Takes?

Before you make the decision to make money online, check to see if you have the values we believe are essential for success.  

Thomas Friedman, an American journalist and author said:  “Winners won’t just be those with more IQ.  It will also be those with more CQ (curiosity quotient) and PQ (passion quotient) to leverage all the new digital tools”.

We believe this to be true, both curiosity and passion have contributed to us making money online.

Curiosity

Our curiosity was peaked when we realized we would not accomplish financial or personal freedom with our Executive Search business.  We were tied to our traditional business and were stuck in the rut of trading time for money.  We believed to fulfill our dreams of world travel, financial and personal freedom with the opportunity to help others we would have make a change.

Passion

It is our passion for embracing change and continuous learning that  helped us tackle the steep learning curve.  This is the same passion that I drew upon as a NHL hockey player.

I was never the best, my brothers and I had many fun hours on our backyard rink playing hockey. I loved the game and at a very early age passion entered my world.  Back then I realized fun and passion go hand-in-hand.  Although the journey to earn money online isn’t always easy or fun, we have learned to laugh at ourselves along the way.  Passion with a sense of humour has kept us moving forward everyday.

Determination and Work Ethic

Work ethic have been a part of my DNA ever since learning I was mildly dyslexic in grade school.  I had to work harder, accept that I needed extra time with my parents and tutors just to make a “C”  grade.  As a teenager I had to work harder than anyone else just to pass. 

At a young age I became a “sports quote junkie”.  I believe sports, business and life go hand in hand.  Bill Belichick (Hall of Fame Coach from the Green Bay Packers) said this about Tom Brady. (Tom Brady is an American football quarterback for the New England Patriots of the NFL.  He is one of only two players to win five Super Bowls and the only player to win them all while playing for one team.)

Tom Brady has a strong work ethic.

Belichick is quick to praise Brady, whom he's coached since 2000, on his ability to put in the time to get better and win. "Tom works very hard," he said. "He wasn't all that good when we got him. He mechanically wasn't anywhere near where he eventually has ended up."

Over the years, though, that's changed. "Nobody's worked harder than Tom.  He's trained hard. He's worked hard on his throwing mechanics.  He's earned everything that he's achieved," Belichick said.  "It wasn't always there," he added.

Like Tom Brady, we have worked hard in our online business.  Even though it hasn’t always been easy we made a promise to do something that was revenue producing every day.  We were clear on why we started this business, keeping our sights on our end goal which was achieving time and financial freedom moved us through the challenges.  

Be in a Hurry and Be Patient

As Simon Sinek says “ You have to have patience for exercise.  You have to have patience for college.  You have to have patience for relationships.  Once the momentum gets going it takes on a life of it’s own”. You also need a sense of urgency and the willingness to be patient with yourself. Learning new skills takes time".

This is a journey, we keep getting better and better.  We committed to spending 70% of our time being productive and 30% of our time learning about how to be better online.  Sales Managers in traditional business would say to make calls, accept rejection and do the numbers.  The great thing about earning money online,  once the blog or video is complete and posted they work while we sleep.

You Are Not Alone

Conclusion

Remember this is not for everyone.  You need to be naturally curious with a willingness to embrace change.  With gut determination and passion we were able to break though barriers when the learning curve was steep.  We kept our eye on the goal, remembering why we went down this road in the first place.  This is a journey not a race, there are people who lent a helping hand along the way.  Our sense of humour kept us going.  I guess you can say our online business woke our fun up!
