It’s Time For an “Outbreak of Kindness”

A Time of Transformation
We believe society will emerge from this coronavirus crisis evolved, wiser and more compassionate. Watching the news, it has become abundantly clear how similar we all are. Regardless of the colour of our skin, where we are from, what we believe, who we love, this virus doesn’t discriminate.
Barriers Are Breaking Down
Although some countries have been affected more than others, no one knows how this situation will evolve. The coronavirus is somehow breaking down barriers. Some people may feel superior to others because of where they are from, the car they drive or how much money is in their bank account. The coronavirus doesn’t care about any of that surface stuff.
We Are All in This Together
Perhaps it’s a time to reflect on who we are on this vast planet of ours. In this global world we are all affected by what happens in the far corners. Growing up, there was an expression “when the USA sneezes, Canada catches a cold.” Today, that’s not only true for North America but for countries all around the world. We are all sharing the same planet. The coronavirus makes this point loudly and clearly!
We feel for and have compassion for the families who have lost loved ones in this crisis.
Where There is Crisis There's Opportunity
None of us know when or how this will end. We believe in times of adversity and challenge there is great opportunity. This is one of those times. Besides washing hands and avoiding spreading germs when feeling sick, this is a time to look for opportunities. Before the coronavirus, people might not have been open to seeing new things. It’s easy to keep the blinders on when everything’s going along as planned.
People are Selflessly Working Towards a Cure
Together we will endure and conquer this crisis. This has happened throughout history and it will happen again. New challenges require creative thinking. There are thousands of selfless men and woman on the frontline courageously helping all those affected. Ultimately this crisis will be solved through bold, outside-the-box thinking. Actions are being taken to protect and reassure the public while medical experts courageously fight this disease. We can learn from these fearless leaders.

It’s an opportunity to focus on our similarities, not our differences. Something we heard on the news, let’s have an outbreak of kindness! The coronavirus is shedding light on all of us. Let’s take this opportunity to examine who we are in this global world. This is a time to reflect and decide how we can each make the world a better place.
