Little Changes Make a Big Difference
Why New Year Resolutions Don't Work
Did you know 80% of New Year's resolutions fail? .... by mid-February? Most people vow to change their lives overnight. Throughout the holiday season, if you are like us we are eating too much, maybe not being as active with the idea that come the new year all this is going to change!
People Set Themselves Up for Failure
In reality most people set themselves up for failure believing they can reinvent themselves literally overnight. Think of it, most people say I’m this way up until December 31st and at the stoke of midnight I am going to become the new and improved version of myself.
This strategy is simply is not sustainable.
How to Make New Years Resolutions Stick
What is sustainable is making a couple little changes that ultimately contribute to achieving long-term goals. Let’s say your goal is to become more physically fit in 2020. Avoid the crowds of people at the gym for the first six weeks.
Introduce More Activity into Your Daily Routine
Walk up the stairs instead of taking the elevator. Park a little further away from your destination. Take 5-10 minutes every morning to stretch. This is much more manageable. Little changes lead to the achievement of long-term goals.

Take one step at a time everyday to achieve lifelong change.

Change requires time, commitment and a willingness to learn new skills and gain more knowledge.
Make Small Changes to Your Habits
Another example, let’s say you want to spend more time with your family, but your job is demanding and your commute is long. Perhaps you often miss dinner with your family and you have made a promise to yourself that 2020 is going to be different. Maybe start your day a little earlier and end a little earlier to avoid peak traffic times.
Lead By Example
Let people know at the office this is your goal and arrange meetings sooner in the day so you can leave the office sooner. Arrange breakfast meetings instead of lunch meetings. People don’t tend to linger over breakfast when their day is ahead.
Cut Yourself Some Slack
Be easy on yourself. If one day, you aren’t able to maintain these little changes, remind yourself tomorrow is a new day. Putting too much emphasis on the beginning of the year creates an expectation most of us are not able to maintain.
Avoid Setting Goals Too Big to Tackle All at Once
We fall into old habits, feel defeated and find ourselves saying next year will be different and the pattern continues again and again, year after year. Small changes lead to big changes. Every day is a new beginning and a way to push the re-start button.
Remember Change Takes Time
Change isn’t easy and it’s a process. It starts with desire. Start with little changes. Little changes are building blocks to overall life changes.

Change is a process and it doesn't happen overnight!

Every day is a new day! Push the reset button when necessary and start again!
