A Fork in the Road

About 15 years ago I was given two job offers and had to make a decision about which direction to take.  I was at a fork in the road and my choice changed my life in more ways than I ever could have imagined.  It seems it is only through hindsight that I understand which choices are big and small.  Thank goodness we don’t know which choices are which or making them could be paralyzing. 

Gaining Clarity

As fate would have it a good friend of mine invited me to spend the weekend at her place on one of the Gulf Islands.  Getting out of Vancouver with my dog, away from the routine was exactly what I needed to gain clarity.  Early in the morning I went for a walk. The Gulf Islands on the West Coast of Canada are magical. The rain forest is lush and green and peaceful. 

What Makes You Dance?

As I was walking through the forest, my pooch bounding along beside me in absolute bliss of her new found freedom a voice in my head said “ What makes you dance?” The voice was so clear, I instantly gained clarity.  I came back from my walk with confidence in the direction I was headed.  I kept asking myself “What makes me dance?” I had a vision of dancing with my daughters in the kitchen and it was in that moment I decided to stay in the recruitment industry.  It was the recruitment industry that I knew and loved and it would afford us the ability to keep the roof over our head so we could keep dancing in our kitchen.

Finding Love When You Least Expect It

Little did I know I would fall in love with the person who owned the recruitment company.  Bob and I have been together for over 12 years and have a blended family of 8 children and 4 grandchildren.  What I thought was a simple career decision was a decision that changed our lives forever. Thank goodness I listened to that voice inside me.

Altering our Career Direction at Our Age

As you can tell, we aren’t 40 anymore, so the decision to make a career shift at our age was a big one.  It was both scary and exciting.  It was a series of events that lead us here.  We attended a conference on business and how disruption of industries is all around us.  Our eyes were opened to the possibility our industry was changing in many ways, and could possibly cease to exist as we know it.  We read books, listened to podcasts and the message was clear we could choose to disrupt or be disrupted.  One day on Youtube I saw a video that once again changed our lives, we were introduced to a wealth of information that changed our lives. 

Fear of the Unknown

Sometimes it's the choices we don’t make that we regret the most.  Fear has a powerful way of holding us back sometimes.  We decided to face our fear of the unknown and try something new and watch 7 free videos.  We tackled the steep learning curve and took a leap into an industry we knew little about.  We work in our online business from home and put fun back in our lives.

Choosing to Dance

We are more energized than we have been in a long time.  The Six Figure Mentor community and business makes us dance - Bob is dancing right along beside me.
