When Values Align You Can Soar

What are values anyway?

Have you ever worked somewhere, felt so out of place because something just didn’t feel right? This probably means your values and the work place values were not lined up.  As recruiters, this was often the most challenging thing to get right, aligning the work place and the people. We all talk about values, but do any of us really know what our values are or where they came from?

Those Impressionable High School Years

We would try to uncover values in candidates by asking people who the most significant person was in their life growing up?  What did this person teach you, and how have you integrated those teachings into who you are today?  We found the most significant influencers are often parents, but they don’t have to be. Teachers can shape our values, friends, parents of friends, coaches all can impact who we are today.  It really does take a village to raise a child.  Also there are the negative influencers in our lives who also mold us into the people we become. Sometimes the lessons we learn in adversity stay with us forever, impacting who we are in the world.

Values to the Core

Values are part of our core.  Perhaps this is the reason when our values are out of alignment we have a feeling that resides in our stomach making us feel uncomfortable or uneasy.  We want to get it right, feel more connected, but sometimes it's our feelings, our intuition when we listen to it, gets us back on track, much like a compass does.

When Values Align We Flow

When values do align, isn’t it amazing?  We seem more in flow, hours feel like minutes, we laugh lots, everything feels right.  We are more productive, energized and inspired.  In our experience top performance only happens when values align. Someone may have been a top performer before, if values are misaligned they will be a top performer perhaps... somewhere else. Values matter.

Going Back in Time 

To uncover your values think back to your high school experience. What were some high points, low points, lessons learned?  When did you feel in flow back then?  In our experience, it’s amazing, as old as we get we can all remember high school in an instant!  Those learning years provided the foundation for who we are today.  Sure, we may shift a little as life goes on, but the core values stay the same, they are always with us, guiding us along our journey.

Like Attracts Like

Knowing how important it was to have values align in whatever we do, Bob and I did our due diligence before becoming involved with Six Figure Mentors.  We knew if our values didn’t align with this educational community we would not achieve the success or time and financial freedom we were seeking.  We knew our learning curve would be steep, after all we were the people whose idea of technical ability was turning the computer on and off in hopes it would work again.  In order for us to be productive we had to find a community of people whose values aligned with ours and we did.

Like Minded People With So Much More to Give

We truly are surrounded with like minded people, all at different stages of their journey all willing to help us with ours. We are people with so much more to give and share.  We live in a society that says when you are 50+ you are too old and you are sent to pasture (figuratively speaking that is).  Six Figure Mentors changed that!

The Grass Really is Greener 

The grass really is greener on the other side! Our wrinkles are our roadmap of wisdom. Now we share our journey with those who have had similar experiences and lived to tell the tale. We know life can be challenging, I often think we are all the “walking wounded” on this journey called life. ​

The Six Figure Mentor community is rich with a complex and dynamic fabric of people, all willing to be authentic and real. Most of us want more from life. We find when we give more, we get more than we imagined. Our lives are forever changed when we share a bit of ourselves with others. We are on this planet together, together we are making our planet a happier and healthier place.
