We were just told by friends who live locally, that Whistler is busier in the summer than it is in the winter. This according to our friends, is attributed to the popularity of Airbnb and VRBO. When hotels are at full capacity Whistler Village is only one third as crowded as it is now. According to our friends no new hotels have been built in Whistler for 10 years.

Airbnb and VRBO have contributed to the large number of tourists that visit from all around the world, twelve months a year. It’s still an interesting experience and authentic study of human behaviour walking in a new place carrying a hat and sunglass clad mop. A couple observations, children will actively engage and stare.

Children show natural curiosity. Some adults will ask “why the mop?", but generally adults will look and then quickly look the other way. The definition of curiosity is the desire to know, or inquisitive interest in others’ concerns.
