When Values Align Relationships Work
Your Body Knows When Values are Out of Alignment
Have you every been in a situation where something didn’t feel right? You had a feeling in the pit of your stomach, or your head hurt, or your eye started to twitch……something was off….this was your body trying to tell you something. Where ever you are, what ever you’re doing, who ever you’re with is creating a values mis-alignment within you....and your body knows!
When Values are Out of Alignment It's Game Over!
We’ve had enough life experience in business and in personal relationships to know when values are out of alignment .... it’s game over! This may not happen immediately, know, it's just a matter of time before the relationship, the business partnership, the friendship will come to an end.
Our Bodies Speak in Different Ways Until We Listen
When values are out of alignment our bodies will send signals until we listen. Values are at the very core of our being. We believe values evolve as a result of nature, nurture and experiences. Values are a big part of how we show up in the world.
Values Show Up Sometimes More Than Other Times
Values present themselves in both good and challenging times. Our values don’t seem to come into question when things are moving routinely along. It’s when we stretch ourselves or when situations happen that force us to stretch ourselves that values really show up.
Our Values Can Be Our Guiding Force
Values function as an internal beacon to show us the way and help us understand the difference between right and wrong. These are internal beliefs that guide how we live our life. Examples of values could be family, spirituality, happiness, fun, to mention a few. They can be both positive and negative. Negative values are self-interest, greed at the expense of others.
Values Mean Different Things to Different People
To further complicate things, values may mean different things to different people. It’s one thing to list values and say I value family and friends. It gets a little more complicated when one person puts friends over family and the other person puts family first.
People can agree that family is important, we all have our own unique perspective on importance. These different perspectives can create a values clash. Values need to be aligned on many levels!
Personalities Can Be Different if Values are Aligned
People can have different personalities and if their values align a relationship can work. When values are mis-aligned in any relationship eventually that relationship will crash and burn!
So why are we telling you this?
Values matter in everything you do!
When starting anything new, a business, a relationship, a partnership, a friendship .... ensure your values are aligned. Listen to your body. If your values are out of alignment your body will let you know.
