Lessons From Our Four Legged Friends
How Do You Cope When You Feel Overwhelmed?
Sometimes life is so tough it feels time for one of those days when we pull the covers up over our heads and say, "I’m staying right here!" We call this a "duvet day." We've had a few "duvet" days and believe most people do. On days like these, it's a little more challenging pulling ourselves up and dusting ourselves off to keep moving forward.
Pets Don't Judge
Pets are incredibly intuitive and know when something is wrong. Pets spend every hour of every day watching us. Behind those watchful eyes, we wonder what they’re thinking. As a young girl, I used to wish our pets could talk. Now, much older I realize the magic comes from the fact they don’t speak. Our pets observe without judgement.
Bob’s Story:
Looking back on the toughest times in my life, it’s been my pets that have helped me. During divorce, a challenging time in business, I would go running with our dog "Shooter". Somehow, both the run and the companionship of my faithful friend helped me through these difficult times. Again in 2008, when our recruitment business barely survived, runs with our dog Rox kept me moving forward. Another loyal companion who supported me through a difficult time.
Adrienne's Story:
Animals are so intuitive, they know us better than we know ourselves. The same goes for cats. While raising my four daughters we had both cats and dogs. Four kids under the age of seven, two cats and a large dog made for an active and chaotic household. I used to call the animal world our "sub-culture." Arch-enemies, our felines and canines had to figure out how to get along. The smallest feline usually made the rules. Pets brought joy and even a sense of calm to our family.
Pets Love Us For Who We Are
Pets love us unconditionally in good times and bad. It has nothing to do with the clothes we wear, or the money in our bank accounts. There's no hidden agenda, our pets love us for who we are. They support us and always look for a reason to have fun.
Complete Acceptance of Who and Where We Are
Unless our pets perceive a danger to us or to them, they don’t judge and they don’t try to alter our behaviour. They are accepting. Pets accompany and support us on our journey. They’re flexible and forgiving. They wait patiently and expectantly. They comfort us when we’re sad and lift us up when we let them. There's no mystery why the word “Dog” is God spelled backwards. We can learn a lot from our four legged friends.
Living in the Moment
Pets keep going when the going gets tough. In our experience, they don’t let things get them down. Their tails keep wagging and they keep running, purring and living in the moment.
How Does This Relate to Online Business?
Learning new skills can be challenging. Success happens when people push through these challenges and keep moving forward. It's about being in the moment and having faith it will make sense in the end. In the Launch You community we are not judged by others. We are all in this together. Our challenge is to be easy on ourselves as we learn new skills.

Adrienne & Bob
We are digital entrepreneurs who took a courageous leap to start our online business. We have owned an executive recruitment company for over twenty years. The industry is being rapidly disrupted by technology. As a result of the skills we have learned our recruitment business is 100% virtual. Both of our businesses allow us flexibility to work when and where we want and do the things we enjoy.
